They each have their own requirements, but generally it is a full course load all throughout high school including: 4 years of english, 3-4 years of math, 2-3 years of a foreign language, 2-3 yers of science (at least 1 must be lab based), 3 years of social sciences, and possibly an art or music class (sometimes any elective will do. In addition to these, it would be nice to have at least 2 years of a foreign language. You should take as many honors and Advanced Placement classes as possible.
Absolutely. In fact, honors these days aren't even enough. Princeton was just named number 1 on US News & World Report's annual best college list, finally breaking away from their tie with Harvard. Therefore, Princeton, being consistently a top school, in turn has top students from all over the world applying. To really stand out in admissions, you'll need AP courses. Instead of taking English 3 Honors, for example, take AP Language & Composition. If you do well, it definitely means quite a bit more. And do make sure that you're strong in other areas, more specifically your SAT scores.
Yes, to get into Princeton you probably should take AP courses they're alot better and you learn more plus it looks better on your records. Honors course personally to me are a waste of time and aren't very good you learn to much in too little of time and really not enought honours wouldn't get you into Princeton so take some AP courses you have a higher chance!!! good luck hope i helped some :)
You will need four years of English, four years of a single foreign language, four years of math, four years of science, and three years of history. I would assume that you also need to maintain a high GPA and be very involved in school as well as in your community. Good luck with that.
There is no specific formula for getting into medical school. With that being said, there are specific "pre-med" courses that must be taken to gain admission to ANY US medical school. However, you can take these courses in addition to any college major you choose, including "Dance," if that's your thing. More importantly, while embarking in your undergraduate adventure, you should focus on developing clinical experiences (shadowing physicians, working in a hospital setting, etc...) and of course... your M C A T. A great MCAT score, GPA, and clinical experiences are not the sole factors considered by admissions committees, but having them GREATLY increases your chances of being admitted into a big-time medical school, such as YALE School of Medicine. Again, with that being said, courses in high school are not considered for medical school admission.
The graduation requirements will depend of the degree program in which you are enrolled. However, there are general education requirements such as a writing seminar and foreign language which are required of all students.
Princeton is one of the toughest schools to get into, and there really is no "winner" resume that guarantees admission. However, there is a general student that they are looking for:
They want a very highly academically inclined student. This means that Princeton looks for AP students who have pushed themselves to succeed in some of the hardest courses. This means taking classes such as:
AP Calculus and AP Calculus BC
AP US History and AP Government
AP Biology and/or AP Chemistry
and more...
Although taking a heavy courseload is important, it is even more important that you show that you can handle the work. You must do well in your classes, and how well you do reflects in your GPA. Princeton looks for the best in the brightest, often students that are Valedictorians or top 10% of their class. Not only is GPA important, but good SAT's and SAT II scores are essential. Getting a SAT score of at least 2000 is helpful, and doing well in SAT II's shows that you have strengths in specific areas.
It is important that you don't so compact your schedule that you cannot do other matters. Princeton wants a well-rounded student that has extra-curricular activities outside the realm of academics. This means doing clubs such as National Honors Society or Key Club, Debate Club or Math Club. Being proficient in the arts such as being in Art classes or Band classes also help. The more well rounded and more interesting you are, the better you look as a potential student. This means volunteering outside of school, such as in summer camps or any other community service organizations.
In conclusion, having an AP courseload, a good GPA and SAT's, varied extracurriculars, athletics, and volunteer work will give you a fighting chance to go to institutions such as Princeton.
