There is plenty of boating, water-skiing, kayaking, fishing, commercial fishing, and wonderful cruises, especially up the St Joe River, which feed the lake. One of the only Golf greens that is totally surround by water is found in Coeur d'Alene.

North Idaho is the site of the huge Dworshack Dam and the one of two places in the world to find star garnets - in fact, for a few dollars, you can dig your own from the banks of Emerald Creek.
Orofino, Idaho is the gateway to fishing and water sports behind Dworshak Dam, and sports a large slamon and steehead trout fish hatchery, as well as a gorgeous Best Western with convention center located right on the historic Clearwater River.
