At the present time (October 4, 2011) the leaders of the main three political parties in the province of Ontario are:
Liberal Party, Dalton McGuinty
Conservative Party, Tim Hudak
New Democratic Party, Andrea Horvath
The names of the Ontario opposition parties are the Progressive Conservative Party and the New Democractic Party. The Leader is Tim Hudak.
The Honourable Thomas Mulcair P.C., M.P. (Outremont) is the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition (as he leads the New Democratic Party of Canada, which received the second-largest number of seats in the 41st general election to the House of Commons).
Justin Trudeau M.P. (Papineau) leads the Liberal Party of Canada, the third-largest party in the House of Commons. The Liberals also form Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition in the Senate, where they form the second-largest party; the Official Opposition in the Senate is led by The Honourable Senator James Cowan Q.C. (Nova Scotia).
Daniel Paillé leads the Bloc Québécois. As Paillé is not a member of the Senate or the House of Commons, the Bloc Québécois has selected Louis Plamondon M.P. (Bas-Richelieu-Nicolet-Bécancour) as the leader of its caucus in the House of Commons. It should be noted that the Bloc Québécois does not have "official party" status in the House. There are currently no Bloc Québécois senators.
Elizabeth May M.P. (Saanich-Gulf Islands) leads the Green Party of Canada. She is currently the only member of the Green Party in the House of Commons, and so the Green Party does not have "official party" status. There are no Green Party senators.
The Honourable Senator Elaine McCoy (Alberta) is the sole member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada in the Senate. There are no Progressive Conservative members of the House of Commons, as the party ceased to exist there once several parties merged to form the now-Conservative Party of Canada. (Senators are entitled to designate themselves however they choose.) As a "rump caucus," the Progressive Conservative Party has no leader.
