∙ 15y agoThey don't do thourogh fact checks, they take things out of context, they spin things in a negative way, they try to get the story out so fast that the story is misrepresented. Take the article by Tim Wu on the RDR vs. Rowling case. Not only does he take an innocent by stander (Melissa Anelli) and make her look like a jerk but he also takes things out of context, spins things she says to look different than how they were said, but he also doesn't even check to see if it's her voice when he quotes her. The article is incorrect, rood, unkind, uncalled for and generally wrong. The media also plays the stupidest stories, like Brittney shaving her head, they played that for days. Or the Olsen twins, they never leave them alone. Tabloids pay big money for pics of celebrity's kids who don't deserve to be shoved in the lime light.

∙ 13y agoThere are lots. Although violence in the media doesn't affect all it's viewers, with the billions of people on Earth, cumulatively it is a lot. One effect of violence in media in youth is that, since TV shows often use various special effects (ie. sound effects) in order to keep the public's attention, I have heard that it had led to reduced attention spans in children. This could be an explanation for why, for example, kindergarten teachers need to teach children through games or songs.
