Keep your napkin on your lap, your elbows off the table, use the right eating tools at the right time (use the shorter fork to eat salad and a spoon for soup) and remember not to reach across the table!(I personally never follow these rules, but hear about them all the time from parents! LOL)

Do not sit before the host/ess does. Always say please and thank you. Keep your elbows off the table. Use the proper utnsils for the proper courses, and if you don't know , watch your host/ess or ask someone seated by you.Well-mannered person are always happy to help. Do not speak loudly , and stick to general, non-controversial topics during the meal.Keep your napkin in you lap when not in use, and place it alongside your plate when the meal is finished. If you must leave the table during the meal, stand and just" Excuse me" , no explanation is necessary.The host/ess will stand to signify when the meal is over. Follow his/her lead.
