some kind of training status or on their initial assignment.
The training includes the basic training phase where recruits are immersed in military culture
and values and are taught the core skills required by their service component.

∙ 10y agoThe USMC rankings go from General Officers to Field Officers to Company-Grade Officers. Within those three categorizes there are three to four more ranks in each. For example, within the Field Officers the lowest rank is Colonial then Lieutenant Colonial and then Major.

Gunnery Sergeant and Lance Corporal are names of ranks used by the US Marines. The Question was about the US Army.
