First of all, you must be at least 18 years old to enter into a legal binding contract in the United States. Signing up for a credit card is entering into such a contract. The conditions are that you can borrow money from the crdit card company but you promise to pay it back. Next you must have good credit. If you have no credit history, the credit card company will offer you a small amount of credit to get you started, for example, they may offer to open a line of credit for you of $200.00.
Those are the 2 basic requirements you will need to qualify for a credit card.
Another way around it is the following:
You can sign up with someone who already has a credit card. You can be added to their account as a co-signer. A co-signer means you can use the other person's card, even though you are not the primary credit card holder. People may decide to add their children (who must be at least 18 yrs old)or their husbands & wives as co-signers on their credit accounts. However, the owner of the card (person who originally had the credit card) must pay for all charges made on the account. That person is the only one the credit card company will go after if the card does not get paid. So please, be cautious about who you decide to add to your account as a co-signer.
