The rules for using masks in theatre are as follows:

  • Do not take the mask off in front of the audience, ever. You need to turn fully around then take it off.
  • Never turn your head so the mask is not 'end on' (Facing the audience fully) not even profile (facing perpendicular to the audience)
  • Never touch your mask while it's on your face.
  • Never talk in the mask
  • Don't put the mask on the floor.

Tips:

If it's an expressive mask pull the expression of your mask on your own face.
