The board has several pages now so you'll have to jump around or start at page 1 and go to 70 or whatever. http://www.drugs.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7826&whichpage=1 DO NOT STOP LEXAPRO WITHOUT TALKING TO A DOCTOR OR AT LEAST READING COMMENTS ON THE LINK THAT I POSTED!!! Lexapro withdrawal is brutal. ~ T 'I'm surprised that everyone is saying to "wean" off of this so slowly. My doctor told me if I ever decided to quit it, to just stop taking it because it's not addictive. However, I am having all of the symptoms mentioned.

Side Effects of Weaning of LexaproI just finished taking Lexapro (20 Mg. once a day) two weeks ago after weaning off of it for a week. The side effects lasted a little more than a week and for me they including dizziness and nausea, and irritability. I took dramamine for the dizziness and nausea and just had to wait for the irritability to taper off, which it did. I also had some sleeplessness but I drank herbal tea before bed and also took some Tylenol pm's. It's been a little over two weeks now and I feel fine. I was on Lexapro for 3 years. Some people say the side effects are much worse than what I have stated but it's worth working through it - I feel so much better.

I seriously recommend weaning off them, half the dose for three weeks or so, then every second day for a week or two then nothing. I tried going cold turkey in the past of zoloft, and I relapsed a month or two after had to get back on them. I am in my last days of weaning off them, and I am completely fine, no horrible side affects as with cold turkey. But a tiny bit of light headedness every now and them.

The most obvious consequence is that your depression symptoms will come right back and seem worse than ever. Never just stop taking an anti-depressant -- talk to your doctor about tapering off and/or switching to something else.

Celexa does not have a withdrawal syndrome (or even a discontinuation syndrome as is the case with abrupt cessation of Paxil or Effexor, for instance).

How do you titrate off Celexa?

If you are referring to coming off the antidepressant Celexa (generic name citalopram), then the answer is as follows: Typically, the dose is gradually lowered so that withdrawal effects are kept to a minimum. The exact time required to come off Celexa depends on one's current dosage, and several other factors. However, the term "titrate" is usually applied to finding the correct dosage for a person being put on Celexa. In this case, the doseage is gradually rasied to find a level which produces the desired theraputic results with the least side effects.

Does Wellbutrin have the same affects as Celexa?

Wellbutrin and celexa are two different drugs. Celexa is a good drug for anxiety and welbutrin is better to counter the effects of high anxiety drugs which can make you almost comatose. Wellbbutrin can cause people with anxiety nightmares so be careful with that one.
