I have been on Effexor 75mg for 1 year, and Strattera 40mg for 2 weeks. I haven't noticed any bad effects at all, but I'm new at this.

AnswerWired and in a surreal feeling world. Shortness of breath. Hoped that I could stop effexor and have no withdrawl from it, but the strattera hasn't mitigated the withdrawl symptoms (mostly 'the zaps'). When I take the effexor many hours after to try to avoid conflict of drugs I go through a phase of nausea and weakness...then I am mostly all right. I Think I have to stop the strattera. AnswerI have been currently taking Effexor 75 mg and Strattera 80 mg for about one year. The innitial effects for me were increased libido and insomnia. eventually the effects faded after a few months, but I still had bouts on occasion.

It wasn't until I had a regime of doing 30 min of aerobic activity five days a week, that the drugs made there most positive benefits known. My sleep paterns have stabilized and my ADD symptoms have receded.

I believe it is very important to add aerobic activity, without it the drugs have little effect.

AnswerI am a 27 year old male. I've been on Effexor 150 mg for about two months now and started taking strattera 40 mg a week ago. The Effexor got me out of my depressed state and the Strattera really helped with my concentration. I am happy and productive once again. Working out 5 times a week helps as well. I would like to read other peoples experience with this combination of drugs. Is there a conflict at all? My decrease in sex drive really sucks. My doctor gave me some Viagra and I have tried it. It makes my penis hard as a rock but doesn't really increase my incterest in sex at all. Besides, I don't really feel comfortable taking Viagra at this young an age.

Wellbutrin is an antidepressant and strattera is more of an antianxeity medication. The two kind of even thereselves out.But there is no way without a doctors orders that I would mix these together.

AnswerI take Adderall XR and Wellbutrin XL, they are a great combination together. It's a common cocktail. As for Strattera, it seems like they are the same "family" so it doesn't sound far out there. If it's working for YOU. That is what is key. You are under doctors care, checking in with your provider, keeping track of what is OK FOR YOU, listening to your body. That is what is ideal for YOU. Just keep talking with your doctor. Check the links section, it might be helpful:) AnswerDrug interactions (plug in the names of two or more drugs and get interaction info). Caution: not all drug interactions are known or reported in the literature, and new drug interactions are continually being reported. This information is provided only for your education and for you to discuss with your personal healthcare provider.

AnswerWhile I tend to agree with the previous answers, you should know that Wellbutrin (Bupropion) is a CYP2D6 inhibitor. CYP2D6 is a member of the cytochrome P450 mixed-function oxidase system, and is an important enzyme in the liver for the metabolism of certain drugs, among other functions. Strattera (Atomoxetine) is coincidentally metabolized via CYP2D6. Generally, if one drug inhibits the CYP-mediated metabolism of another drug, the second drug may accumulate within the body to toxic levels. In this case, the drug that is likely to accumulate is Strattera, which is why it is typically recommended that if you are currently on Wellbutrin, to add Strattera starting at the low end of the dosing spectrum. But just to be sure, I would consult the prescribing doctor or your pharmacist if you still unsure about combining the two medications since they do interact moderately with one another.

ZOLOFT ( sertraline ) for depression and OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and STRATTERA, for ADD/ADHD and lack of concentration, don't seem to have any noted problem when taken together. For a COMPLETE LIST of side-effects for both medications, please see your PHARMACIST and ask for a print-out on both meds. ANY pharmacy should glady honor your request, even if you did't fill your prescriptions there. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Best Of Luck!

You do not mention your age or what you are being treated for but young teens should be very careful about taking Prozac and their doctor should be monitoring them closely. Prozac side effects: insomnia, restlessness, nausea, and tension headaches, which normally go away within one to two weeks from the time it was first taken. One possible side effect, which remains for the time Prozac is taken, is its effect on sex life. NEVER stop taking Prozac without consulting your doctor.

Strattera patients should also be monitored closely for liver problems. Stattera does work as well as Ritlain though with fewer side effects. The most common side effects from Strattera are the sleepiness, nausea and loss of appetite.

tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Be sure to mention any of the following: albuterol syrup or tablets (Proventil, Ventolin), amiodarone (Cordarone, Pacerone), bupropion (Wellbutrin), celecoxib (Celebrex), chlorpromazine (Thorazine), cimetidine (Tagamet), clomipramine (Anafranil), doxorubicin (Adriamycin), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), metaproterenol syrup or tablets (Metaprel), metoclopramide (Reglan), methadone (Dolophine), paroxetine (Paxil), quinidine (Cardioquin, Quinaglute, Quinidex), ranitidine (Zantac), ritonavir (Norvir), sertraline (Zoloft), and terbinafine (Lamisil). Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.

Most of the meds listed have to do with enzyme inhibition in your liver. That's just basic pharmacology. So any doctor prescribing the two together had better be doing so in very low dosages. Otherwise the doctor is really gambling with with your liver and your brain.

I have been taking 80mg straterra for about 2 years and just recently started taking 20 mg Prozac also. I have had 2 seizers from mixing both of them and was hospitalized. be very carefull when taking the 2 together.

Heart palpitations, sleep problems, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and dizziness can occur when taking Strattera and Prozac together. Dosages may need to be altered to avoid these non-life threatening issues.

My doctor has prescribed this combination for me personally. However, I have not yet at this time started taking this combination. (this was very recently.) I am aware that he has prescribed it for a few others. Looking it up on http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php you can see that it does increase certain risk factors. But depending on your situation and need, a doctor may make the decision that it is still best to go ahead with that treatment. I'm not a medical professional, but I would advise you to talk about it thoroughly with your doctor if you are considering this combination.

Has the use of Straterra for bipolar disorder been investigated?

My brother has a pretty severe case of bipolar, he started taking strattera and it really didn't have bad effects on him, when he started taking Prozac with it, he had an emotional break down and attempted to stab himself with a pretty thick knife and the blade broke on his chest, he's now in a mental hospital for 3 months I recommend not taking strattera with a bipolar person or depressed person unless it's monitered because my brother isn't the only person I know of who had terrible effects.

Why am I paranoid I am taking Prozac and Strattera?

If taking these two medications makes you paranoid, then you need to communicate that to your doctor so an alternate solution can be reached. You should be open with your doctor about side effects you are having. It could simply be that the meds are new and your body is getting used to them. If it persists after a month or two, you should see your doctor again. It could just be that your dosage is too high.

Does Strattera slow you down while adjusting or does it mean that it just is not for the patient taking it?

Definately. When I was first put on Strattera, I noticed a huge difference in my energy level. I was fatigued and felt like I had no energy to do tough tasks. Don't worry though, after about a month, I quit experiencing this fatigue and was back to normal. I have been taking Strattera for 6 months now and for some time now have had no side effects from Strattera.

What side effects and benefits should you look for when taking Concerta Prozac and Straterra?

If you are using Prozac and Strattera together, you need to talk to your doctor, as this combination can cause serious side-effects. Read your Patient Insert that came with your Straterra, it covers the use of Prozac and Straterra together. Hope that helps. Concerta is being passed around my school. . .most people think that if you take it you will be hyper and more alert. . .this may be the case in some people. . .however for some people side effects are great and horrible. . .I took 2 Concerta and got light-headed first, then the dizzyness came and the stomach aches. . .dry throat but too much saliva in your mouth. . .uncontrolable shaking and definite insomnia. . .loss of appitie and hallucinations. . .i am not a trained physician. . .but because of my size the side effects were very different that they are for most. . .the other 2 that took it with me were perfectly fine, yet another person that took the same amount claims his heart stopped. . .i would NOT recomend using this drug. . .its side effects SUCK
