Doses of niacin as low as 500mg may cause liver inflamation, but this effect is more common when the dosage reaches 3g. For diabetics, Glucose control may become more difficult. Niacin is a vasodilator -- watch for a lowered BP. Large doses of pure niacin sometimes result in a headache, and flushed complexion. Large doses of riboflavin can cause the urine to become very yellow. While vit B complex is generally harmless or helpful, this is Not a med to experiment with at megadosages. Stick to the RDA.

I ask this question because I stopped taking these tablets recently and have since been suffering from terrible anxiety attacks. Not sure if it is connected but have never suffered before with this. Originally I took these as I was losing hair and someone advised they were good for your hair and nails. But now I am suffering from horrendous anxiety and it seems to be ruling my life. Any advise or experiences would be fantastic.

B vitamins are water soluble, and easily excreted by the body (as long as one maintains adequate hydration). The only readily apparent side effect is that the urine turns bright yellow (since most of a B vitamin supplement is excreted in the urine - due to much of it not being needed).

In large amounts, niacin commonly causes flushing and headache , although this can be avoided by taking it in the form of inositol hexaniacinate. Large doses of riboflavin result in very bright yellow urine.
