this is very easy ...... insects are our way of life and we need them to live and pollinate our plants:)

Advantages:

-Insects are the most diverse and abundant group of organisms on Earth

-Insects are major decomposers of organic matter (dead plants and animals)

-Insects are pollinators of entomophilous plants

-Insects are the basic components of most food webs

-Many modern day consumer products incorporate the use of insect by-products, honey being the most obvious, but also dyes, lac, and pharmaceuticals.

-Insects are regarded as 'ethical' subjects for scientific experimentation, as opposed to mice, rabbits, and other commonly used lab animals.

Disadvantages:

-Some insect species are major pests to crops

-Some are also major pests on domesticated animals (fleas, ticks, etc.)

-Some are household pests (cockroaches, houseflies, bedbugs, etc.)

-Many insects transmit diseases; e.g. Mosquitoes transmit malaria

There are probably others, but those are the basics.

A high possiblity that pollen grains wont reach and fertilize or pollinate plant .The plant has to invest alot into making pollin so that it can pollinate other plants. The direction of wind must right as well as speed.

Less variation occurs in this offspring.

This means that plants have less chance of adapting to changing circumstances. If the environment does change (a hot habitat becomes cold over time) all the plants may die and may become extinct as probably none will show adaption as a variation to this new condition.

Plants are more susceptible to diseases.

If the parent does not show resistance to a certain disease, it is very likely that no plants in the next generation will show resistance to the same disease, meaning that a pathogen could be responsible for killing them all.

The plants' genotype become homolozygous over time (this might be considered neutral). But if harmful alleles are in the genes of plants, they will be expressed even if they are recessive.

Some disadvantages of having wind are:

  • Wind sometimes blow things away that people do not want blown away.
  • High winds can uproot trees and blow down power lines.
  • Tornado force winds can destroy homes and businesses, and kill people and animals.
  • Winds can make it difficult to walk and drive if they are high enough.

One advantage of insect pollination is that it allows for a species to have more possible genetic differences, which can be good for survival. A disadvantage is that plants have to depend on an external force to reproduce.

Angiospermic plants are dominating the present day flora globally. These are highly evolved plants in the plant kingdom. However, many angiospermic plants produce enormous ammount of pollen grains to ensure cross pollination.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of self-pollination and cross-pollination?

Self pollination does not require pollinating agency and it is accompalished with lesser amount of material (pollen grains) but selfpollination leads to homozygosity and sometimes sterility due to lethal genes. Cross pollination helps in genetic advancement and evolution of hybrids and it is preferred by majority of plants. Although cross pollination reqiures plenty of pollenating material and presence of pollinators.

Which type of pollination is better self or cross pollination?

Both types of pollination have advantages. Self pollination allows a plant to reproduce even if there are no other plants of the same type nearby. Cross pollination can serve to prevent the extinction of a species due to a lack of genetic variation.

What are the plants that do not need to have cross pollination?

Plants having cleistogamous flowers

The transferring of pollen between plants is what?

cross pollination

What kind of plants are used in cross-pollination?

peas

How do seeds plants reproduce?

Plants reproduce by pollen grains. There are 2 types of pollination: Cross pollination and Self pollination. They are primarily pollinated by means of wind pollination or insect pollination.

Is cross pollination between different types of flowers possible?

No, only cross pollination between plants of the same genus and species

Why is cross pollination considered to be an adaptive advantage over self pollination?

Because it pollinates more plants and makes more plants

The transfer of pollen from a male structure to a female structure?

What is reproduction without seeds?

Pollination. Pollinating with two plants is Cross Pollination. Pollinating with one plant is called Self Pollination.
