Native Americans depended on trees for many reasons. They used the long trunks of trees to carve out canoes for travel. They made bows for hunting from tree limbs. Smaller pieces of wood that was obtained from trees was used for crafting bowls, cups, plates, and other necessities.

They used their Natural Resources very well. They only used what they found, but used everything and did not waste a single thing.

One of the most important resource to them was the 'buffalo'.

This is what each part of the buffalo was used for:

  • Hide/Buckskin: Moccasin Tops, Cradles, Winter Robes, Bedding, Breechclouts, Shirts, Leggins, Lance Covers, Belts, Dresses, Pipe Bags, Pouches, Paint Bags, Dolls, Coup Flag Covers, Quivers, Tipi Covers and Gun Cases (later Native Americans).
  • Hair: Headdresses, Saddle Pad Filler, Pillows, Rope, Ornaments, Halters and Medicine Balls.
  • Tail: Medicine Switch, Fly Brush, Lodge Exterior, Decorations and Whips.
  • Hoof/Feet: Glue and Rattles.
  • Horns: Cups, Fire Carriers, Powder Horn, Spoons, Ladles, Headdresses, Signals and Toys.
  • Meat: (every part eaten) - Pemmican (converted), Hump Ribs (immediately), Jerky (converted).
  • Skin Of Hind Leg: Moccasins/Boots.
  • Rawhide: Containers, Clothing, Headdresses, Food, Medicine Bags, Shields, Buckets, Moccasin Soles, Rattles, Drums/Drumsticks, Splints, Cinches, Ropes, Belts, Bullet Pouches (later Native Americans), Saddles, Horse Masks, Lance Cases, Armbands, Quirts, Bull Boats, Knife Cases, Stirrups, Thongs and Horse Ornaments.

...As you can see, the Native Americans got so much out of one Buffalo and did not waste anything. The only thing the Native Americans did not use is the heart. This is because they bury the heart, cover it with soil and prey for the great spirit to make one new buffalo.
