I read this play as Oedipus and I feel that the fact that he had to come to realizations about him, his wife and his dad says a lot. She had to turn into a hero by turning himself in and humble himself. Honestly, I felt bad for Oedipus because he really didn't know what was going on when he killed that man on the mountain and came back and there were questions about the murder. He really thought someone else had killed the old man which turned out to be hs father and then he got married and it turned out to be his mother. His mother should have told him who she was but instead, they were intimate and everything, even had children.
