Genesis 35:19, 20 is a common scripture recording the stone of remembrance. At Joshua 4: 1-9, God told the Israeliteâ??s to pick up stones and prepare them as a memorial. Romans 8: 35, 37-38 "What will separate us from the love of Christ?" is another one often used.
Tombstones are not mentioned in The Bible. We searched the concordances for references to tombstones and grave markers. They were not used in ancient times. People either burned the deceased or buried them leaving a marker or plant or rock to identify the grave.
