The first step to obtaining your GED is to take a practice test. The practice test will tell you what types of questions are on the actual test and will point to areas where you need additional study. Fortunately, there are a number of free online GED practice tests. Three online sites for GED practice tests are:

2.Testpreview.com This is a great place to get a practice test.

GED Classes Online
There is no shortage of online classes to prepare for the GED tests. Many sites offer classes ranging in price from $129 to several hundred dollars. However, there are some very good GED preparation classes online that are absolutely free. Two good sites are:

The GED Test
The actual GED test is not available online. The GED test is administered by each state’s department of education. The American Council on Education has a comprehensive list of GED testing centers in North America. Simply enter your zip code and they will provide a list of testing centers. The test is schedule to last seven hours. Part one is 50 questions in Language Arts which will test reading and comprehension, organization, structure, and language usage. Part 2 is a written essay. Part 3 is Social Studies covering subjects in World and U.S. History, civics, government, economics and geography. Part 4 covers life science, earth and space science, and physical science. Part 5 is more language arts and covers literary and nonfiction prose. Finally Part 6 is the mathematics test. Measurement and geometry, data analysis, statistics, algebra, functions and patterns are covered in the Mathematics test.
If you want to take your GED test online, there are a lot of different options available to you. You can either take a GED test online through a school of your choice, or you can take it through a number of websites that exist solely to proctor the GED test online. The one that you decide to go with will depend a lot on your finances and your schedule, but understand that there are options.

Yes they are everywhere. The best thing to do is go to Google and type in free online GED tests, multiple results will pop up. From my research "passed" is a great site.
