A calico cat is not a type of breed; it is a color pattern on the cats fur. The cat itself could be a domestic short hair, manx, Persian, and many more breeds that can have this color. The personalities of each individual cat can vary greatly.

Savannah cats are like normal cats. They like anything that moves or tries to escape from them. This is the hunting instinct at work. My savannah cat loves to play with straws. A lot of the time we come home after eating at a restraunt and the cat will go crazy and try to take the staws out of the cups. for Christmas, my parents got my cat 20 cups with lids, duct taped them to the floor, put straws in them, and let the cat go crazy. I also tried out a laser pointer with her. It worked, but only when we were in a dark room.

Most Savannah cats like to play with toys that is easy to hold in their mouths and things they can scratch on and climb. They absolutely love to climb. If you have a Savannah make sure you have something for them to climb up on. Don't leave out anything edible, breakable, etc. They are very curious and intelligent so if they get restless they will get into anything including closed cabinets, the dishwasher, on high shelves. They are very strong and fast so you won't have to worry about them falling. My Savannah falls on his feet every time. They will swipe at you and bite if you don't keep them busy and fed. Mine is addicted to tuna so I wouldn't start giving them bits of tuna every once in awhile. If I haven't given my Savannah tuna in awhile he gets VERY grumpy. When he was a kitten we had to put child locks on everything because he was so curious. But as he got older he calmed down some so they won't always be as high maintenance as when they were kittens. Be careful though, if you declaw your Savannah then they bite more as a defence mechanism. They are very territorial so if you have other cats in the house, it'll take a while for them to adjust. But, we found having other pets gives the Savannah more things to do. Ours used to chase around the dog and they'd wrestle. Having a Savannah in the house is never boring. They are very entertaining to watch.

But to sum it up, our Savannah is very picky about the toys he likes so if you have troubs don't give up. Trust me it's not worth it. They get grouchy and restless after awhile of no playing. So here are some toys our Savannah likes.

-He is absolutely obessed with this pink star that came off of children's costume fairy wand. It's made of cloth and is flat so it's easy for him to carrying around in his mouth. He likes it when we hide it under things so he can dive under it and 'look for it'. You can probably find something similar to this at a pet store. He likes it because it is flat, and pink is a easy color to see because it contrasts with other colors.

-He likes the feather boas and feather wands you can get at pet stores. We hold it up in the air and he'll jump as high as 3 to 4 feet for it. You'd be surprised at how high they can jump. They also like to chase you around the house for it too.

-Our Savannah used to really like only blue and green crunchy balls that he can hold in his mouth and chase down the hallway. We came up with a name for this game called "Cat Bowling". So have fun with that. (Hint: they like to jump up things for it, so I would suggest throwing it on a bed and they'll go crazy looking for it.)

If you're out of things for the Savannah to do, they love watching birds so open the window and put a chair by it (Most Savannahs are too big to sit on the window sill).

If you have any more questions about Savannahs feel free to message me.
