We need to share the wealth and although i do not have much of my own in relation to my friends. ---------------------------------------------------------- I've tried to improve the previous answer as from here. ---------------------------------------------------------- The following measures could be undertaken to fight poverty: • Stimulate self-sufficiency programs (e.g Micro credit from the grameen bank) • Diversify the economy (borrow money from others and invest in different sectors) • Birth Control (reduce the risk of creating a generation prone to poverty) • Reduce probability of crime and political instability (increase awareness of how can someone prosper in life - e.g by exporting their craft-works; choose people who have the required expertise to reduce the deficit balance and also, to designate strategic plans to lead to a better life of the inhabitants.)

as a community, all we can do is work together and notice all the starving people out there. We can help prevent poverty by donating food and clothes, adopting children, have fundraisers and many more things that can be done. it all starts with care and if we put ourselves in their shoes and think about how scary it is to be on the streets or have no family and still have hope. We need to also think about all that we have and thank god for giving us a wonderful family.

Poverty must be ended through a collective effort. In 2000, world leaders came together at United Nations headquarters in New York to adopt the UN Millenium Development Goals. This consisted of 8 goals set to be achieved by 2015 that included things like ending poverty and hunger and combatting HIV/AIDS. Ending poverty has been set as a priority and goal for the international community, and now it is just up to every nation to keep their commitment.

In the United States this means all Senators and House members backing important poverty-reduction legislation, like the Water for the World Act. If passed, these bills will end up funding important projects on the ground of developing countries that will emphasize sustainable development for communities. Check out the Millenium Villages Project (http://millenniumvillages.org/). This Project has been very successful with development in villages in Africa.

So the next step is to make sure these bills are getting passed. That is where every American has to be involved. Congressional officials are elected into office by their constituents and that is who they are there to serve. If enough constituents express the need for congressional officials to support poverty-reduction legislation, chances are, they will. Urge your congressional officials to cosponsor important poverty-reduction legislation.

Bills will get passed, people will get money to do work on the ground to create development and sustainability in communities. The international community is on board to end global poverty, now it is up to us to urge our congressional leaders to make this possible.

"Poverty is the worst form of violence."

Mahatma Gandhi

Needless to say poverty is curse to mankind. There is no xyz thing that can alleviate poverty. Unfortunately, most of people are poor because of others' faults. Politicians, government bodies all focus on uplifting the rich and the poor are quite often left unheard.

If something is to be done, it will be done by us, the common people. We have seen all forms of governments, systems nothing seems to work at all.
