The best thing to do is to restore the iPod. To do this, connect your iPod to your computer, then in iTunes find your device on the sidebar, select it and find the restore button. Just make sure you don't let it sync again if you don't want all your content to go back on to the iPod.

i really dont think there is but i might be wrong. I made a mistake about downloading the 4.0 because i hade a my ipod jailbroken for the 3.1.3 firmware.so if you have 3.1.3 you can jailbreak your ipod so dont upgrade if you want to jailbreak your ipod.

well, it depends on what youre looking for, if you want something cool and you dont care about the preice then i'd go with ipod touch or iphone, but if you dont have a lot of money, i found that ipod nano is a good "starter" ipod.
