1. the Boryang mud festival a festival every July its a huge mud fight. with all kinds of mud games one of Korea most top attractions.
2. Gangjin island a beautiful island in South Korea known for its nature!
3 Yeso world expo a place with lots of buildings made to look like other countries selling souvenirs and there famous food!
4. Buddha birthday a holiday around spring or summer in not quite sure. the night is full of lite hand-made lanterns with a special tag with a peace fortune and all come to worship Buddha.
5. Gongbok palace a beautiful palace in Seoul, a very popular South Korea attraction. and while in Korea don't forget to go to Seoul South Korea capitol. full of festivals, food and midnight shopping. and try all South Korea food!

This is a matter of personal opinion.
Someone who enjoys cities and architecture might enjoy Seoul or Daejeon.
Someone who prefers the beach might enjoy Busan, Seonyudo or Incheon and its many islands.
Someone who prefers the countryside might enjoy Damyang or Boseong.
If you enjoy ancient history, you could consider Gyeongju.
If you enjoy island adventures, you can look into Ulleungdo.

Most Koreans would say that Jeju Island is the best place in Korea since it is the easiest place for them to vacation where they have no language issues. Koreans see Jeju Island in much the same way that Americans see Hawaii.
My personal favorite place in Korea is downtown Seoul because of the restaurant offerings as well as top-notch museums.
