∙ 13y agoDuring a war, you get rid of landmines by blowing them up. Bombing and shooting the ground where you think the mines are buried. Or by driving a special heavily-armored vehicle over the mine field to intentionally set them off.
There are special kinds of missles that will drag a rope-like line of explosives across a field, and when that line blows up it will detonate the mines near its path.
During peacetime, the normal way to get rid of mines is to carefully scan, probe, or dig around the ground for them. This is after you look for visual clues about where they are buried. The goal is to dig up the mine intact, and then it is either disassembled or stacked with other and blown up intentionally after the area is evacuated. Searching for mines to dig them out of the ground is slow and dangerous. Often it is better to just put up warning signs and declare the minefield off-limits to everybody and don't mess with it.

∙ 13y agoIf you are an average person, then there is relaly nothing you can do. The gorvernment only has the power to sign this treaty that says that landmines are forbbiden. Unlesss you star a group and get relaly famous, the chances of America banning landmines are near to impossible.
However in many other countries landmines are banned

∙ 11y agoSome can be disarmed, others can't so your only option is to detonate them from a safe distance. This can be done in many ways but is most commonly done with a C4 charge (IED) or a MCLC (Mine Clearing Line Charge).
