If the actual chlorine reading is not too high (i.e. around 10ppm), suspend dosing and allow it to drop over a period of time. If the chlorine reading is significantly higher, or if you need to use the pool in the near future, add sodium thiosulphate to reduce the free chlorine. WARNING The recommended dose rate is 250 grams per 50 cubic metres. Apply this in several much smaller additions, testing after each dose. An overdose of thiosulphate can leave you with a chlorine deficit for a considerable time.
I take the pool cover off, sun depletes chlorine, also run your filter for about 2 hours a day. Well, certainly running your pump/filter 2 hours per day would bring on the "greenies" in a hurry. It is obsurd to run the filter for only 2 hrs per day unless you had a very small wading pool. 6 to 10 hrs would be the minimum run time. I'd hate to see how clear or sanitary the above persons pool was even after the 2 hr filter run time. Not gonna happen. You will never have a clear as crystal pool water even if you never used the pool. Total bunk on the filter run time.
1) Just don't do anything leave it alone (the chlorine will eventually drop, high amounts of sunlight and a high bather load will speed up the process
2) You can add chemicals to the pool
3) Replace some of the pool's water to fresh, clean water
Run the filtration system less often or if that is not practical reduce the time the chlorinator its self is turned on. Many chlorinators can be turned down seek advise from the manufacturer of your particular unit to find out more about it,
Just wait for it to go away it shouldn't take too long.
Why do you want to reduce the chlorine in your pool? If your have readings of 5 to 10 ppm you are not over chlorinating the pool. Waiting a day or 2 is usually the answer. If your readings are in the 20 ppm range then you may want to consider thinking of reducing chlorine. It could vary well be that your test kit or test strips are out of date or old or that you may have other factors that are giving your false readings. Get a new test kit or take a sample of the pool water to a trusted pool store for a confirmation of your readings. Using a produce to reduce your chlorine content can and will screw up a perfectly good pool sometimes turning the pool a nice shade of green ( and it won't be algae) of which you will not be able to remove through filtration. Learn and understand how to care for your pool the proper way. Recheck your other chemical readings for accuracy. Old test kits and solutions will get you heading in the wrong direction with the results you receive from them. Bad news. Hire a professional for a month or so to get you on the right track. k
Put less chlorine in or turn the chlorinator down if you have a salt water pool the chlorine that is already in the water is dissipating all the time, so you don't have to worry about that.
IF you need to reduce the chlorine level immediately to conform to a certain standard then you can add sodium thiosulfate to bring it down to where you want it. This is if you don't have the time to wait a day or a week for it to come down on its own. I've seen chlorine levels so high it took a month for it to come down to normal on its own.
The half life of chlorine is one hour. If it is 30ppm at 10am. It will be 15ppm at 11am. Then 7.5ppm at 12pm. But at 1pm it will level off at the ppm that is adequetly protected by stabilizer(cyanuric acid). 40ppm of stabilizer protects 6ppm of chlorine. So, if you have 40ppm of stabilizer in pooll, you will have 6ppm of chlorine at 1pm. Now to lower chlorine you will either drain poolwater or add 8 oz. of ammonia a day until desired chlorine level. BE CAREFUL!!! ammonia eats up stabilizer, sodium bicarb, and chlorine. Only add correct amount!!!!
put more water with soap and rinse
You add water to the pool
No
The only way to lower your cya level in your swimming pool is to partially drain your pool and fill with fresh water that will lower it or if you want to lower it to almost nothing completely drain your pool and start over but keep in mind chlorine tablets will raise your CYA level More information in the related link below.
throw chlorine in it
Yes but you also need chlorine stabilizer (CYA) or the chlorine will be destroyed by sunlight in a very short time or you need to add the bleach in doses thoughout the day to maintain the chlorine level. Bleach is the same as liquid pool chlorine but at a lower concentration.
No. You can go to 10.0. Now if you have a vinyl liner that chlor level might have to be lower. k
If you are getting a low reading of chlorine in your above ground pool, you should add the appropriate amount of chlorine to get it back to the correct level. This is important to keep your pool running at maximum abilities.
1-5ppm
normally when there is no reading for chlorine means that you need it, put 1 gallon of liquid shock in your pool. that will raise the chlorine level, cheryl
my free chlorine level is way to high above ten my pool is 12 by 24 what can i do to fix it
Free Chlorine is the Chlorine which is free to do its work in the pool, as opposed to Combined Chlorine which is chlorine that has combined with contaminants and is tied up and ineffective as a sanitizer in the pool. Sometimes you will see it abbreviated as FAC, which stands for Free Available Chlorine.
You whip your dick out and pee in the pool.. that oughta do it! :)
