Bio Silk works really good. It is a little expensive but worth it and last for quit a while. It will protect your hair from burning as long as you use enough, though it doesn't take much, and leave it shiny and soft.

After you are done you need to shake your hair around and get it un stiff. You also need to brush it before and after you use the flat iron. ( don't belienve the rumors that flat ironing is bad for your hair. I use one every day and my hair is silky and smooth!)

Excessive flat ironing the hair won't harm you, unless you accidentally burn yourself, but it will harm your hair. It scorches the hair, especially if the iron set at a high setting.
