The most commonly accepted hypothesis is that an asteroid, 6 miles in diameter, crashed into what is now the Yucatan Peninsula 65.5 million years ago. It threw enough dust and ash into the atmosphere to block out sunlight for months or years. Without sunlight, plants died, and without plants, the animals that depended on them died.
For a few million years prior to the impact, climate change caused by excessive volcanic activity in India's Deccan Traps had reduced worldwide biodiversity dramatically, including the number of dinosaur species. Some scientists believe that this climate change was responsible for their extinction.
scientists really don't know how to answer that question yet, but most people say it got killed by a meteorite, then so be it.
Dinousaurs LOL.

nobody really knows what caused mammoths to become exctint, some people think it is because of hunters and some people think is was because of the 'ice age'.
