more than likely it's your alternator that is slowly but surely going out,or it could be your serpentine belt making the noise because it isn't tight enough around all the drive wheels.hope this helps.bye It can also be your Power Steering. Check your tensioner, alternator. Check for small leaks around your PS res. Small leak, low fluid and your PS will cause a slight wine. Alot of variables you need to check
The main pulley on which the serpentine belt goes on in a 1997 Chevy Lumina LTZ is the crankshaft pulley. The crankshaft pulley plays a role in the wheels turning and powering the alternator and power steering pump.
The alternator on a 95 Chevy Lumina 3.4l is replaced by disconnecting the wiring harness, loosening the retaining bolts, and removing the serpentine belt. The alternator can then be unbolted, removed, and a new alternator installed.
It is below the alternator and kind of hard to see.
The power steering receptacle should be on top left side of the motor in front of the alternator in a black box with a cap on the 3.1L V6
I did a alternator replacement on my 96' Lumina Sedan 3.1. In the engine compt. there's a diagram showing the serpentine belt flow and belt tensioner location. 1. Remove the belt after releasing the tension. 2. remove the bolts from the alternator & wire plug connecion. 3. Replace & reverse order. Pretty straight forward.
there is no alternator on the 1992 Lumina its all electric, so there is no need for one.
I have a 1999 Lumina LTZ and the the power steering reservoir was impossible to find. Much like the other components in this monster 3800 engine like the battery hidden under the washer fluid....the power steering reservoir is located underneath the alternator. Be careful that when you remove the cap you don't get debris from the top into the reservoir.
the single belt that runs around the engine, alternator, a/c and water pump is the serpentine belt.
Note RADIO CODE before proceeding!!! Disconnect battery Loosen tensioner for the serpentine belt, remove belt. Remove wires affixed to the back of the alternator. Note the wire positions. Remove the 2 bolts holding alternator in place, you may need to remove a brace on the rear of the alternator to the head. Remove alternator. Replacement is the reverse, use the engine decal to reout the serpentine belt properly.
I recently replaced the alternator on my 96' Lumina. 1. Remove the serpentine belt off the engine by locating the belt tensioner and removing the tension req'd to remove the belt. (there is usually a diagram in the engine compt. showing the tensioner location and belt path) 2. Remove required bolts (2) I believe... & elec. harness plug from alternator. 3. Replace alternator & reverse process.
How to remove steering wheel on Chevy lumina 2000
Check for a bound up alternator, coolant pump or other pulleys. Also make sure to check the power steering pulley for broken edges, they are plastic and with age tend to break
