Why do people cough when they eat ice cream?

One answerBlood being excessively cooled in your neck while you eat and swallow ice cream too quickly. Same effect can be observed while drinking ice cold fizzy drinks or just breathing in really low temperatures. Also exposure to excessive wind chill factors and overcooling your head will give you headache (lets say riding a motorcycle in cold weather with you visor up). It starts by when you eat to much or when you eat to fast.

Quiet obviously the ice-cream is not entering the forehead. Rather the stomach vagus nerve (the nerve that connects to the brain behind the fore head) is sending out strong signals of cold to the brain; at the junction with the trigeminal nerve( responsible for sensation in the face, sensory information from the face and body is processed by parallel pathways in the central nervous system.) from the face, forehead, jaw, and the chill in the stomach is felt as pain in the head.

actually sometimes it doesn't because according to my calculations if u eat ice cream you might have brain freeze which bring you back to the headache ...what you can do is the following you can rest a little a little bit drink some water and lay down this might help you in these situations...if u want a better answer you can also look it up at Google :)
