There are plenty of reasons why a cat may lose hair. In younger cats or cats that have access to the outdoors, probably the most common reason would be trauma - scrapes, scratches and abrasions. The skin underneath may be reddened or bleeding, but this heals within a few days and the hair will grow back. Losing hair all over the body without seeing any bare patches is consistent with shedding - cats will shed out their entire hair coat in the fall and spring.
If there are patches of hair missing in specific places, the cat could have anything from a skin infection to fleas or mites to a hormone problem or even cancer - this would have to be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the cause and then to plan treatment.
Often it is to thin out their coat of fur for the summer because they don't need as much to stay warm
There are many things that can cause a cat to start losing its fur. A few things are cancer, nervous disorders, and hormonal imbalances.
Because the hairs got so sick of being licked that they just packed their bags and left... :(
Change it's diet.Dont give it chicken based food or dont feed it with the same food. If it still loses hair go to a vet
cause they malt in summer and grow hair in winter
there is only one answer for that : moulting
Exposure to radiation, or it is turning into a Zombie cat.
if its shedding then brush it of if its losing hair see a vet
she might be getting mange
my cat also having the same problem. from my observation, this may due to her old age (for my cat's case) there may be other reasons as well. for example allergic to certain kind of food, and etc. if your cat is severely losing her hair on her front legs or any part of the body, do take her to the vet. but if the condition is not severe, then it is a normal condition and the hair will grow back later on.
no it's loosing hair because it's under stress or not getting enough sleep.
this happened to my cat before, it probably just has hair balls or worms in its belly, you should go to petco, petsmart, or your vet to get some medicine
Are they black bumps? If so they are blackheads. My cat had them and I changed the food dish and they went away. Just a suggestion.
There could be many reasons, but the main ones are not keeping their shots up to date; bladder infection, parasites; worms, or your cat could have gotten into something it shouldn't have. Take your cat to the vets immediately!
Take some tape, Put it on your shirt where the cat hair is, presto manifesto you have a hairless shirt.
It causes hairballs in the cat's digestive tract, and the cat may hack them up again, making an awful sound as if choking. I have heard that butter will help with this problem, although some vets may not recommend it for health reasons. I have also heard that smearing petroleum jelly on one of the cat's paws occasionally will help with the swallowed hair, but I think the cat would really prefer butter, as the petroleum jelly does not taste very good. Special cat food and medicine are available if your cat has a serious problem with swallowed hair.
