go to doctor. if cartilidge is gone, they will have to replace joint. severely more painful. If muscle/tendon damage is done and there is scarring, get it removed or get cortizone injections.. Or do like many other people around the world... pop some pills, put some ice on it and quit complaining.

Could be many things. If you have snapping and pain either the soft tissue or the cartiligue in the joint is dammaged. Specifically for me, it's degenerative arthritis. Basically, it's the premature break down of the cartiligue in the joint which causes a throbbing pain and swelling.
