Do you have another cat in the house that could be inflicting the wounds?
I have the exact same symptoms with my oldest cat. She is 14 years old. We can not tell if she is doing this herself...or it is one of the much younger cats (two others...one is 1.5...the other about 7 mos old).
***i just took my cat to the vet for this today, she has no flees and is indoor. the vet shaved her neck to see the sores which got bigger. (she looks hilarious) he just cleaned the area, put some ointment (animex i think), and gave her an antibiotic shot. and i have to give her oral pills 2 x a day for 2 weeks...he said its some kind of infection, or dermatitis, that could be from a bunch of stuff. if it doesnt get better hell do a culture and see what it is...fingers crossed shes ok...i read a bunch of forum answers and it could be allergy from anything even food, so i changed the brand of food too....goodluck!
The one area a cat cannot clean is its head. Neck and shoulders. So the cat cannot naturally groom there. I think regular washing would help.
it could be many things, If you have a cat that goes outside they could of got an it from a cat fight or from being attacked from a larger animal. It could also be from a sickness they could of picked up. The best thing to do is take to your vet and see what they say.
My cat had a red, sore patch on her shoulder--hers was from excessive licking. The first time I took her to the vet and was given antibiotics and a soft collar to prevent her reaching it. The next time, on her hip, I just used the collar for a few days, put some plain vaseline on it and it starting healing up. My cat is 13 years old...
I'm no vet, and have no idea what it could be, but to get rid of it cleanse it out daily and apply a little preasure with a wet cloth if it bleeds
If you let your cat outside, she may have been mounted by a cat that's not fixed. When they mount the female they bite the neck to make her stay still.
Sounds like Flee bites.
it is called a scruff
My dog has red sores, dry skin, skin is reddish and I think she has gotten into insalation....What can I do/
Humans have a sternocleidomastoid muscle, but cats do not. In a cat, the sternomastoid muscle defines the anterior triangle of the neck.
yes and the boy cat gets on top of girl cat
the frilled lizards enemies are people, snakes, wild cats, dingos and larger snakes
Are your cats spayed and neutered? If not this is the reason, he is trying to get her to stay still so he can mount her
Do you have other cats? Devons have these all the time.
The Theality clothing turtle has a great neck that isn't itchy, but may be a bit tight.
If you are itchy on your arms and neck it may be allergies. The only way to know for certain is to see a physician.
went to doctor and he gave me steroids and the sores on my scalp healed and went away.
You're not likely to pass cold sores from your face to your neck. Cold sores like to transfer from a wet place like the mouth to another wet place like the genitals or eyes. The rash on your neck could be a sweat rash or a bacterial infection.
Neck muscles can become so sore that they start to tingle and feel itchy. To help relieve the soreness, use a muscle rub and an ice pack on the area.
You may have bed bugs.
The phrase is "cold sores" and yes they can. See a Vet.
it is impossible to actually scratch a hole in your neck. go to the doctor to see what cream they have for that.
Yes they can. Bananas and pineapples are well known to cause canker sores in some people.
the kittens are biting to hard! Its time for a saucer!
