What was the fashion in the Medieval Times?

Fashions changed a lot during the 1000 years of the Middle Ages, and varied a lot from place to place and according to social station. In the beginning, in the West, fashion tended to be simple and without much in the way of color. Bright colors, special fabrics and various decorations, which began to be used by the nobility, became increasingly popular during the Late Middle Ages, first for men, and later for women. The people who were poor and could not afford expensive dresses were only restricted to wear plain shirts and some leather pants. Women would wear long till ankle length dresses with an apron over it. So only wealthy people could dress in fashionable dresses and according to the sumptuary laws passed by King Edward III, only royal people were allowed to people cloth of purple silk and gold. Most of the men from the medieval era didn't actually wear, but they wore breeches or kilts and they were medieval fashion.

There was not that much fashion in medieval times compared to how much fashion there is now. Only the rich and kinds could afford the nice clothes. Edward made a law that only the royal people were allowed to wear cloth of gold and purple silk if they didn't follow
