Worst case would be a freeze plug but most likely it is a heater hose or connector where it goes through the firewall. Good luck.
radiator cap might be leaking
Need to check the back to corners on the intake, they our none for leaking. There is 2 freeze plugs in the back of engine between the bell houseing and block.
I'm guessing that it could be leaking from one of your core plugs ( also known as freeze plugs , expansion plugs ) or your block heater if you have one , because that is installed in one of the holes in the engine block and takes the place of a core plug
It could be caused by a defective pressure cap on the radiator cooling system.
check the drain line on the a/c or does it have antifreeze smell to it then it could be the heater core
I had the same exact problem with my 2001 Durango...just got it check out and I was told it was the water jacket plugs. hope this helps
If the antifreeze is leaking out the exhust system, I.E. you are experiancing white smoke, you either have a leaking head gasket or a warped head. I can't see any other areas where there would be antifreeze at the rear end of any explorer model.
check where it's leaking. You could have blown a hose which is most likely unless sumeone took out the drain plug. Just look for where it is leaking and that will give you your answer
your heater core is leaking i would replace it.
Some people say that the smell of hot antifreeze smells like mold. It could be possible you are smelling the antifreeze from the engine.
I believe that is the electric water pump for the rear heating system.
it is a big possibility it is leaking from your water pump. i have a 2001 intrigue 3.5l twin cam v6 leaking from the waterpump, and am currently replacing it as i type this.
