check your starter first of all if its not that then look at the positive terminal on the alternator and see if it may be loose it may just need to be tightened up.. i had a similar problem on my 96 cavalier z24. i switched the connector that connects to the terminal and now its fine. hope this helps.

A car only needs three things to make it start. Fuel - Spark - Air (compression) Usually it is fuel or spark related. Generally, if it's not getting fuel..... 1. fuel filter 2. fuel pump 3. fuel injectors (if fuel injected) Again, generally, if it's not getting good spark..... 1. Plugs, wires and/or coil. Or coils (if each plug has separate coil)

The key tells the strarter to start turning over. We need to know if there is No cranking of the starter or cranking but no start? Big differences as to what is not happening when it should be.

If you've run the car completely out of gas, you may have burnt out your fuel pump. When you turn your key to accessory, you should hear your fuel pump kick on. An easy way to check is to have some lay down and listen by the fuel tank while someone turns the key to accessory (it's not necessary to turn the engine on).

In addition you may have sucked trash into the fuel filter. Replace it.

It has to be your starter that has the problem. If the lights, radio and horn beep then it's definitely the starter.
