Pineapple pizza, often referred to as "Hawaiian Pizza" originated in... no, not Hawaii - but Germany.
Actually, it originated in 1973 in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia at the suggestion of Jane Golding (a teacher at Charters Towers State High School). One evening I was making a variety of pizzas for dinner and Jane suggested adding pineapple to the ham pizza (WEIRD!! I thought...) but it was very good. I wrote my ex-coworkers at Straw Hat Pizza Palace in Ventura, California with the new pizza combo and a year later when I moved back to the states, Canadian Bacon & Pineapple pizzas were on almost every pizza joint menu.
... in the year 1521 the Italian Antonio Pigafetta (nice name) discovered pineapple in Brazil on his circumnavigation of the globe. Being homesick he made Pizza and not having tomatoes and cheese added pineapple and tuna.
