Most of the figures are taken from the CIA Factbook.

According to the CIA Factbook, the five countries with the largest number of Catholics are Brazil, Mexico, Philippines, United States and Italy. The country with the largest Catholic percentage of the population is Vatican City, at 100%.

According to the Census of the 2010 Annuario Pontificio(Pontifical Yearbook), the number of Roman Catholics of the world is about 1.166 billion at the end of 2008 (At the end of 2007, it was about 1.147 billion).

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.

.

Brazil has the largest number of Catholics in the world 145.4 million (79% of population), Vatican City, followed by Saint Pierre and Miquelon all with 100% of their population, which is small, as Catholic.

Roman Catholic AnswerNot knowing statistics very well, I would hazard a guess that Vatican City has the highest proportion with nearly 100% of the population being Catholic. After that, perhaps Malta.
