Christopher Columbus found America by sailing went to find the indies. In those days everyone thought that the world was flat but he knew it wasn't so he tried to find a quicker route to the Indies. He went west and hit America he also found San Salvador he got to cube which he thought was china. When he got to America he thought he was in India.

He had also met a Spanish Captain that had sailed to the island where he lived. The Captain told him many interesting stories about where he was from and how he had gotten there. Before he died, the captain also gave Columbus the chart of where the route he had taken. After that, he went on some Portuguese voyages to Africa. By the year 1475, he had learned the art and theory of navigation.
