A rather potted history is: King Charles I thought he should rule by divine right, given to him by God. Parliment thought that the people (Parliament) should govern the country and not the monarchy. Eventually, after winning the English Civil War, Parliament beheaded Charles 1 and governed the country. The monarchy was restored on Olive Cromwell's death, and King Charles II took to the throne.

Today, the monarchy remains as the Head of State, but with limited powers. Parliament governs the country, elected by the population, over the age of 18, and registered on the Electoral Role.

George III was King during the time of the American Revolution and described as being the one to lose control of the colonies. He was also known for "wrangling" with Parliament, so it is believed that he did not think fondly of them.

How did the second continental congress influence the conflict between the colonist and Britain?

i think (from what i know from my textbook), the second continental congress influenced the conflict between the colonists and Britain because the congress started sending tons of stuff (like the Olive Branch Petition) to King George and also sending George a tougher statement called the Declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking Up Arms. but the effort to make peace failed. in fact, King George didn't even bother to answer the Olive Branch Petition. instead, he declared the colonies were "in open...rebellion." Parliament, meanwhile, voted to send 20,000 soldiers to the colonies to end the revolt. and all this influenced the conflict between the colonists and Britain.
