Rudolf Hess spent most of his time as a prisoner of the British after a failed attempt to negotiate a peace between England and Germany when he flew , unauthorized , a Messerschmitt Bf 110 to England .

Before his flight , Rudolph Hess served as Adolph Hitler's right-hand man in the capacity of Deputy Fuhrer which was a position within the Nazi government that was second only to Hitler himself who was Fuhrer .

Rudolph Hess remained a prisoner in Spandau Prison in Germany until his death the 17th of August 1987 .
