no it was Dalton in the 1700s but democritus had the theory of the atom. but it was J J Thomson who realized that there was a negative charge in the atom now called electrons. J J Johnson does not have anything to do with atoms
Thomson described this method. He gave plum pudding model.
Francis Aston and J. J. Thomson were discoverers of isotopes.
