He returned to his 1,570 acre ranch just outside of Stonewall Texas, about 50 miles West of Austin, where he wrote his memoirs and died of yet ANOTHER major heart attack in 1973.

The ranch included the cabin where he was born and raised, and 674 acres of it were donated at his death to be the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park.
