None of the participants have ever revealed what she said.
Knowing how directors get spontaneous reactions from their actors, it is REASONABLE to assume that John Ford had O'Hara say something raunchy in Wayne's ear in order to get a genuine surprised reaction. But that's just a guess.

Knowing how directors try to get spontaneous reactions from actors by taking them off guard, it is REASONABLE to assume that John Ford had O'Hara say something raunchy in Wayne's ear in order to get a genuine look of surprise. But that's JUST a guess, nothing more.
