The most famous genus of saber toothed cats, Smilodon, hunted big game animals like bison, horses, deer, American camels (called camelops), juvenile mammoths and mastodons, and possibly giant ground sloths. Other genera may have eaten other prey, depending on what animals were in their particular area.

There were many species of saber toothed cats. Each type lived in a different area, and many at different times, so each kind had its own specific diet. They all probably ate relatively large game (primarily animals deer sized and up). The most famous species, Smilodon fatalis, ate wild horses, bison, deer, and possibly even mammoths, to name a few.

Cats did not evolve from sabertoothed tigers. Rather, sabertoothed cats evolved from other cats. Modern apes evolved from miocene apes, which were somewhat similar. Miocene apes evolved from some lemur-like primate, or perhaps something like a lorise. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loris

Which is more powerful - tiger or lion?

A lot of people will say lion , however they are wrong because they are just stupid lion fans that know nothing about a tiger's advantages. The tiger will win because it is stronger! heavier, more agile, bigger, has longer canines, is a better fighter, is smarter, and is not lazy and waits for females to hunt. Tigers rule and lions are no sicken beans
