The Axis powers had a lot of servicemen, a lot of modern mechanized weapons and a single military leader (Hitler) and they used similar strategies as the Allies. The Allies also had a lot of servicemen and weapons. The Allies had more planes and ships plus they had more money and supplies. They had more fuel and the ability to get fuel and supplies to the battalion's. They both had the same determination that they would win. The Big Three had better head leaders than Hitler was a leader.

The biggest common link is that each nation held hostility due to how they were treated when the Treaty of Versailles was written. Also, each nation had totalitarian regimes and a need to created empires to gain an edge against their Western European and American rivals.

# edit; Perhaps you need to expand on this dear writer. Japan was on the Allied side during WWI and Italy's motivation well before WWII, was to re-establish itself as a world power in the old Roman image, by invading North Africa and Abyssinia. ( Ethiopians)

The Axis partners had , at least , two common interests : 1) territorial expansion and foundation of empires based on military conquest and the overthrow of the post-World War I international order and 2) the destruction or neutralization of Soviet Communism .
