The theory is that individual bluestones were transported from Wales on wooden rollers and manpower. Transport partly by sea is also another theory. Over the years, various trials and experiments have been carried out - often using the manpower (and woman-power, of course) of the army to prove that any one theory is (or was) possible. In fact, no-one knows for certain! If time-travel is possible in the distant future, maybe a definitive answer will be finally discovered!

Stonehenge is a circle of stones in Salsbury Plane in the Southern British Isles. It has been the centre of much speculation because nobody is quite sure how people in 3000BCE managed to move 50 ton stones more than 100 miles, and nobody knows for sure why they did so. It is true that it lines up with the sunrise on summer solstice and the sunset on winter solstice, but it was not likely to be used as a predictive tool. It is believed to be built by a socially advanced civilization known as the Beaker People.
Stonehenge was mostly likely built sometime from 3000 B.C. to 2000 B.C. Archeologists have tried to use radiocarbon dating to come up with a more exact time frame of 2400 B.C. to 2200 B.C., but other scientists have theorized that some of the stones went up as early as 3000 B.C.
