What did Mormons bring on the trail? Well, provisions, their belongings. Of course they brought a lot of food, Jerky and bags of flour and such. Most of the time, they even brought their furniture in which they had to throw out of the wagon and leave behind later on their way.

Really anything they might need to survive the trip and to establish a new life in a mostly uninhabited place. Most pioneers kept personal items to a minimum because they simply did not have the space. They needed to bring clothing for all seasons, bedding, and material to sew new clothing once theirs wore out. They brought food, seeds to grow crops, and livestock as well as pots, pans, bowls, and other cooking utensils. They carried barrels for water since they would sometimes travel long distances without drinking water. They had to have tools to repair wagons, chop wood, build bridges over streams, and build homes. They had to have guns and ammunition to hunt for food as well as to defend themselves from any hostile tribes they might come across. They also needed medical supplies as there were many opportunities for injury on the trail. Many with children had to carry extras, perhaps a few toys, diapers, books and a slate so that they could continue their school work. They also had tents to sleep in, hygiene items (soap, combs, etc) and maybe some furniture items for their new home in the west, as well as personal items and heirlooms they couldn't bear to part with. Leaders also carried maps, surveying materials, and those types of things that you might need to navigate in the wilderness and establish civilization. Imagine what you might need to go camping for an entire year with no access to any modern technology, and that is what they brought.

Yes.
