The robber barons had a predatory view of capitalism where anything they could do to increase their own wealth was morally permissible. It did not matter if workers toiled for over 14 hours a day in dangerous conditions. It did not matter if your lowered prices to below cost in order to drive rivals out of the industry and then reset the prices afterwards. It was the barons' intent to create regional or national monopolies and price-gouge consumers.
