"Running with Scissors" is a memoir that has received mixed reviews. Some readers appreciate its dark humor and unique storytelling, while others criticize the author's portrayal of mental illness and dysfunctional family dynamics. Ultimately, opinions on the book vary depending on personal taste and sensitivity to the subject matter.
Running With Scissors, in my opinion, was a great book (as are many of Augusten Burroughs memoirs). Burroughs has a great writing style: simple enough that you do not get caught up with all of the fancy diction and syntax, but full of intellect! I think one of the reasons why I most like Running with Scissors is that he really exposed you to the craziest and most tragic side of mental illness, while still emphasizing that nothing in life should be taken too seriously...and everything bad has a funny silver lining.
I never really cried reading it, I just laughed really hard at some of the ludicrous events in this poor guys childhood and how he interprets these events with levity later on in his life.
Overall, I thought the book was imensley interesting. I found it very hard to believe that this was actually a true story, but like Jeanette Wall's memoir, The Glass Castle, it is. At times the book was heart wrenching, like whenever something bad happened to Augusten (or his mother), and disturbing (Bookman).
The book 'Running with scissors' is about the odd childhood of the author. His mother is deeply disturbed and sends him to live with her psychiatrist, who has an even more dysfunctional family.

"Running with scissors" is one of these really stupid things that your mom told you to not do. If a person is described as "runs with scissors", that means that they are intentionally stupid and either dangerous or suicidal.
Yes. If you trip, you could land on the scissors or you might accidently cut yourself depending on how you're holding it.
Weird Al Yankovic. You can find it on his album "Running With Scissors"
