Catholic AnswerAs there are over a billion people on the planet right now who claim to be Catholic, from every nation in the world, that question is pretty much not answerable, except in so far as they are all human and subject to the same sins and temptations of other humans. A better question would be what should Catholics do? To that question there are very specific answers, and reading the New Testament or a biography of any of the great saints throughout history would answer that question. Catholics should follow Our Blessed Lord, they practice the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy and love God to an heroic degree. They completely deny themselves in order to do the Will of God first and foremost in their lives, sacrificing themselves for their fellow men. One famous example who just died not too long ago was Blessed Mother Teresa. Saint Paul was another excellent example from the start of Catholicism. There have been thousands in between.

Catholic AnswerWhen Adam and Eve were created by God, they were created in original innocence and justice. Their wills were aligned to God, and the world was a good place. When they turned from God and sinned, they lost original justice which had too very bad results:

.

1. Having lost original justice, their judgment became darkened and their wills became weak. They could not long see and choose the good naturally and easily. Having lost it, they did not have it to pass to their children and thus we are all born in original sin with darkened intellects and weak wills.

.

2. They turned over this world to be ruled by the Evil One, with all the disasterous results of that.

Our Blessed Lord became incarnate of the Virgin Mary to remedy this situation and to restore us to a right relationship with God. He accomplished this by offering Himself on the Cross and by establishing His Church to apply His grace and His salvation to each individual in each generation. He guaranteed this Church until the end of time.

.

To the extent that individual Catholics are cooperating with God, living holy lives, and frequenting the sacraments, they are helpers in applying Christ's remedy to each individual in each succeeding generation. To the extent that they are sinning, they are not helping. Those who are helping we call saints, and celebrate them in each generation - lately we have been blessed with more than a few such as the notable examples of John Paul II, Blessed Mother Theresa, Saint Pio (Padre Pio) and others in the past century who have helped to make this world more of what it should be.

.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people in the world are not active, practicing Catholics trying to be saints, these people are not only not a help, but are an active hinderance. Because as Our Blessed Lord said, "if you are not with me, you are against me."

Catholics do all the same sorts of things other people do! Many Catholic churches have festivals, school events/activities, dinners, auctions, etc. And it is not unheard of for a priest to go out for a drink with some of his congregation.

This is a very good question. I, myself, am a Catholic, so I will tell you about some of the stuff my family and I do!

Every either Saturday or Sunday, my family goes to the Catholic church in our town and we attend mass. We listen to the readings, the Gospel, the priest's homily, we receive the Holy Eucharist, sing, kneel, stand, and sit. For more information about the Catholic mass, well what do you do? You look it up on answers.com.

During the weekdays, I go to a public high school where not very many of us are Catholic. Some of my friends are, and trust me, it isnt like we're freaks who wear skirts that hang over our ankles or hoods so you cant see our hair, but I do wear a small cross on a necklace everyday to show that yes, I believe in Christ, and yes, I will be offended if you make fun of Him.

At lunch in the cafeteria, I pray before I eat in front of my friends. They don't make fun of me for it, they don't stare at me, but they do wait politely until I'm done. They totally respect it; and I definitely appreciate it!

Some events I also attend are the Salina Diocese CYO Camp in a little ranch in the country. CYO stands for Catholic Youth Organization. There we go to mass every night, play games such as volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, and speed volleyball, PDQ which stands for Pretty Darn Quick, Ninja, and card games such as Spoons and B.S (which we call Bible Study).

There is also a pool and a snack bar, where they serve ice cream and frozen lemonades.

There is also NCYC, or National Catholic Youth Convention which is held every other year. This past year in 2011, it was held in Indianapolis, Indiana, and I attended it with my CYO group. It personally changed me. You might go to one of these; 23,000 Catholic youth go to this (excluding chaperones and sponsors). Its a wonderful experience!

These are just a few things we as Catholics do, and if you still have more questions about anything I mentioned here, you know what to do.

Catholic AnswerThey certainly do, they worship God in spirit and in truth. They worship Him with their entire lives. They pray each day, and ask help from God to avoid offending Him. They go to confession frequently, pray and examine their consciences daily, and attend Mass as frequently as they can. They offer their lives up in order to take up their cross daily and follow their Lord, so that He may judge them fit to take the narrow gate and the hard road to eternal life.

Catholic AnswerThe Mass has basically not changed in its essentials since the first century, Catholics confess their sins (in a general confession, not individual), then they have a reading from the Old Testament, the New Testament, they sing a psalm, and hear the Gospel proclaimed. Then the priest gives a homily on how to apply these things to their lives. Then they recite the Nicene Creed (since about the fourth or fifth century) a compendium of their beliefs. They there is an offertory, the dialogue, preface, and Sanctus, culminating in the Eucharistic Prayer, in which Our Blessed Lord's sacrifice on the Cross is re-presented in the form of the Last Supper. Catholics then pray the Our Father, pray for peace in the world, recite the Lamb of God, and receive Holy Communion. A final prayer of Thanksgiving is said, and they are dismissed with a blessing.

This will vary widely depending upon which individual Catholic person you ask. Core beliefs include the teachings of Christ the Savior as described in The Bible, belief in the sanctity of life, belief in the inerrancy

of the Pope's proclamations and belief in the efficacy of the saints. In theory, these beliefs should translate into behaviors such as tithing the church, avoiding the use of contraception, charity for the poor and weak and compassion for others.

However, most Catholics do not strictly adhere to every single belief and do not perform every action perfectly in accordance with Catholic teachings. Therefore, you may find Catholics who use contraception or who believe homosexuality in the context of a committed monogamous relationship is acceptable (both are declared sins within the Catholic faith).

Catholic Answer

There is a difference in what you may be asking. If you are asking about people who call themselves Catholic do or believe, then there is really no answer to that, as billions of people call themselves Catholic but are not in any meaningful sense. A sincere Catholic is a sinner who believes that God became incarnate of the Blessed Virgin Mary, gathered His Apostles about Him, taught them, and established His Church on the rock of St. Peter. Catholics see the Church for what it is, the Body of Christ, which is here to guide them to heaven. They believe in God, attend Mass as frequently as possible and confession regularly so that they remain in a state of grace so that they made know and do God's Will in their life throughout their life. A sincere Catholic knows that they have free will to choose God or deny Him, and they must continue to make that choice throughout their life: if they choose God, then they follow His Teachings as He gives them to us in His Body, the Holy Catholic Church.
