The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) mainly wore shirts, pants, leggings, robes and capes. The men wore feathers in their hair and wore jewelry all over their bodies. Most of them w…ore a ring in their nostrils. The woman wore skirts, and robes mainly made out of deer skin. They wore moccasins as their footwear. The Iroquois wore clothes provided by buffalo hides and/or deer skin. . The Iroquois also wore cloths for clothes.. Answers provided by, Brainboy08 The answer depends on the time period - the Iroquois tribes had early contact with Europeans and were very quick to adopt ready-made garments (such as shirts). Originally, men of the Iroquois confederacy wore a soft-tanned deerskin breechclout with short flaps front and back, or (for ceremonial occasions) a kind of kilt reaching to the knees and tied with a belt. Leggings were made rather loose and sewn up the front of the leg; an embroidered strip covered the seam. Leggings were gartered below the knee. A simple tunic of two deerskins fastened at the shoulders was added in cold weather. Women originally wore just a wrap-round skirt reaching to below the knee, with knee-length gartered leggings. Decoration was of moose-hair embroidery or quillwork. In summer no other clothing was worn, but in winter a fringed deerskin cape was added. Moccasins had a square flap, with moose-hair embroidery; sometimes shoes for summer were of woven basswood fibres or cornhusk. Warm robes were of bear or elk hides, or the pelts of smaller animals sewn together. Under white influence, blankets, cloth, shirts and dresses were adopted and many Iroquois became good at working silver - they produced brooches, headbands, armbands gorgets and pendants. People wear clothes for many different reasons. To cover up their private parts (such as under garments, loin cloths, and so on). Sometimes clothes are worn to look good, such as tuxedos to celebrate a wedding, dance, or other festive occasion, or suits at a funeral or church service. There are all kinds of different reasons. My purpose for clothing is to establish a personal identity and to reveal something of my personality. People wear fur clothing because they think it is more fashionable then fake fur and they usually don't care about animals. People wear fur in cold climates because synthetics… do not offer the same warmth and comfort value. There are many places in the US (outside of Alaska) where the temperature falls into the single digits and the windchill into the negative. Fur is simply a smart choice in these areas and the decision for people to wear fur in these areas have little to do with fashion. If properly cared for a fur garment can last several lifetimes (which is why these coats are often passed down from generation to generation) making it a more environmentally and financially sound purchase decision. Synthetics are derived from petroleum (bad for our environment) and while it's true that chemicals are also used in creating a fur coat, their lasting power prevents people from having to repurchase an environmentally harmful product every couple of years. Fur Coats are not Dry Cleaned with chemicals but instead cleaned through abrasion (generally saw dust), so their is no ongoing damage to the environment through the regular maintenance of a lifetime piece. From an ethical standpoint, some people prefer to wear a coat that has sacrificed an animal rather then one that has sacrificed human lives (American Soldiers who continue to work to secure petroleum for our 'fashion' desires) and also because long term, it is less damaging to the environment then synthetics. Call it the lesser of two evils, but their are a number of sound reasons for the wearing of Fur.
