What do Islamists believe happens after death?

There is a difference between a Muslim and an Islamist. A Muslim is a follower of the religion of Islam, just as a Christian is the follower of the religion of Christianity. An Islamist ascribes to the political philosophy of Islamism which holds that the only proper government is one that rules in accordance with a strict view of Shari'a principles such as the former Taliban government of Afghanistan. Since Islamism is a political philosophy and not a religion, it has no view of the Afterlife. (This is similar to other political philsophies such as Communism, Fascism, Democracy, etc. which have no stated view on the Afterlife.

However, as most Islamists are also Muslims, they usually believe in the same Afterlife as other Muslims do. (It is the same way that most Fascists were Christians and so believed in the same Afterlife as other Christians.)

The Muslims bury their dead.

The dead body should be given bath according to Islamic rules and wrapped in white sheets (Cofin).

It should be taken to the funeral place (Janazgah) as soon as possible.

It is better that the dead should be buried where the person dies.

Funeral prayer should be offered placing the dead body in front of the people, Imam.

The funeral prayer is in fact Mercy petition submitted to Almighty Allah for the forgiveness of the dead Muslim.

The dead should be respectfully placed in the grave and buried.

It is advisable to recite the first thee Ayyat and last Ayyat of Sura Baqra on the grave of the dead before parting.
