A board certified podiatrist can do everything from the treatment of nail fungus to reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. To list a few procedures: Bunion correction, hammertoe, neuroma excision, limb salvage amputation in diabetic or vascularly compromised persons, ankle and sub talar joint fusions. Does the use of the title doctor for chiropractors and podiatrists cause any potential problems for healthcare consumers?

No reason why it should. Chiropractors and podiatrists are first and foremost - medical doctors. On completing their medical training, they have simply decided to specialise in a particular area instead of staying within the general medical field. A podiatrist or chiropractor would still be medically qualified to treat say, a sprained ankle, cut finger or dislocated shoulder.
